KANO-born Most Rev. Daniel Okoh has emerged as the new president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). CAN spokesman Joseph Daramola stated this in a release today.
Okoh is the general superintendent of Christ Holy Church, also known as Nation Builders (Odozi-Obodo).
It is a trying time for religion in the country occasioned by the rampant killing of Christians across the country and kidnapping of Priests as recently reported in Ondo and Kaduna states respectively.
It is expected that the new leadership of CAN will take measures to help safeguard Christians in the country and reduce religious tensions.
CAN is made up of five blocs: Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN), Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN), Christian Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (CPFN), Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), (TEKAN and ECWA Fellowship).
The association is scheduled to hold its general assembly on July 27 which would usher in the new administration.
