ECWA FOOD FOR THE DAY - Friday 1st July, 2022

TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 10 : 1 - 13

Believers are running a race towards making heaven. This race is not easy in the face of diverse trials and temptations. All who run in a race have the desire to reach the goal and win the race, but many couldn't get to the finishing line because they were disqualified.

In our text, vs. 1-5 show that all the runners were given the same opportunities, time, distance to cover and rules to follow. "All our fathers were under the cloud, all baptised unto Moses, ate the same spiritual meat" etc, yet God was not pleased with many of them and they were overthrown in the wilderness.

Beloved, this is telling us as believers today that the same God then, is now, and has caused this historical fact to be written as examples to us (vs. 6-10). The people faced trials and temptations, only those who relied solely on God made it to the Promised Land.

Relying on God means living in obedience to His word and allowing Jesus to be the Lord of our lives. Paul admonished them to learn from past examples (vs.11-12) and use God's provision of escape in verse 13. He who thinks he stands must be careful so he won't fall, for the devil is always around to pull us down.

How are you confronting the trials and temptations of life as you run the race to enter the Kingdom?

Father, hold my hands with Your Word so that I may rely solely on you and not on the arms of flesh as I run the Kingdom race on this side of heaven, in Jesus name, Amen.
