TOPIC: CHRIST, OUR MARK OF CONSISTENCY

TEXT: HEBREWS 13:8-9

The chameleon is a small animal that God created with an amazing ability to change its colours to suit its environment. A chameleon is not consistent and can change as many times as the dominant colour in its environment changes. Being consistent is not an easy task. People tend to want change even if what they are changing to is not as good as their true nature. That is where the problem comes in; tailing to be consistent on what is good. We note in our passage today how Jesus Christ is said to be the same yesterday, today and forever. This consistency is a perfect example worthy of emulation. Inconsistency makes us unpredictable. God cannot use unpredictable people. The writer of Hebrews contrasts the consistency of Christ to the strange teachings being peddled around which were not consistent with sound Biblical teaching. It was a source of concern. The inconsistencies in the lives of many who claim to know Christ today are perhaps responsible for the breaks in relationships, changing of churches and ministries, marital difficulties and so on. We have Christ as our example of consistency. Let us be known for a consistent lifestyle of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
