TOPIC: YOUR FAITH SHOULD NOT REST ON HUMAN WISDOM
TEXT: I CORINTHIANS 2:1-5
Paul held impressive credentials and was a skilful and competent communicator. But when he preached the good news of Jesus Christ, he was concerned not with rhetoric brilliance and argumentative competence but with the cross of Christ (see 2:2).
“My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words but with a demonstration of the spirit's power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on god's power.”
The tragedy of today's Church is that our message and preaching lack a demonstration of the spirit's power. It is therefore not surprising that we are not experiencing the expected revival.
We are not experiencing unusual supernatural power of the Holy Spirit because a great number of our preachers are men of books, men of literature; instead of men of prayer and the ministry of the word (See Acts 6:2).
Do you hang your faith on the man of God or the God of man?
Dear Lord, please help me not to fall victim of preachers of a gospel that is devoid of God's power.
