TOPIC: THE FRUITS OF THE NEW NATURE

TEXT: EPHESIANS 4: 25–32

Putting on the new-self involves dealing with certain attitudes that are considered “weaknesses.” It is in human weaknesses that the flesh finds room to mess up believers' constant relationship with the Lord. Paul mentioned ten weaknesses that you and I should not have in us due to our new nature in Christ. We are challenged to replace falsehood with speaking truthfully with fellow human beings (v.25). Anger is allowed but should not exceed its limit, vs 26-27. We are to stop stealing and find some work to do to be able to share with those in need (v 28). We should substitute unwholesome talk with words that help in building others based on their needs and for the benefit of our listeners. We are cautioned not to grieve the Holy Spirit in us whom we have been sealed towards our redemption (v30). We are commanded to get rid of anger, fighting, slander and any kind of malice. Instead, we should be kind and compassionate to one another and forgive one another the way Christ forgave us.

QUESTION

What fruits of the new nature are you bearing?

PRAYER

Dear Lord, please open my heart to know that I cannot be Your child and perpetually thrive in falsehood. Submerge me under the control of the Holy Spirit to speak truthfully to others today and henceforth, Amen.
