TOPIC: HOW TO GET ALONG WITH ONE ANOTHER
TEXT: I CORINTHIANS 6:1-11
Despite not being sinful in itself, it becomes sinful when, instead of resolving our disputes amicably, we opt for litigation before the court of law. The court of law might give you justice, but no court of law can give you a restored relationship. People who go to court hardly greet one another or be friends afterwards. That is why going to court is not always the best option, according to the word of God.
Verse 7 implies that it is better to be cheated or wronged than opt for lawsuits among us. In other words, the Bible recommends that we pursue relationships instead of our rights. God wants us to value relationships at all cost. Keep in mind that the entire Bible is about relationships; relationships with God and with one another (Matt. 18:16-17).
Where do you prefer to take your case, the court, or the Church?
Give me the grace, dear Lord Jesus, to practice God's methods of settling disputes, in Jesus name, Amen.
