TOPIC: QUALITY LEADERSHIP
TEXT: 2 KINGS 6 : 1 - 7
Elisha's group was growing and there was a need to expand their living quarters. The company of prophets under Elisha's leadership can be compared to a present-day Bible seminary. So, imagine that there is the need for the students to go into a nearby bush to get tree beaches, grass, ropes and mud for moulding blocks. Is it likely for the principal to join the students in building the new houses and classes?
Consider verse 3 of our text where the students asked Elisha: "Won't you please come with your servants?" Without hesitation, he promptly responded, "I will!" Indeed, Elisha was a true servant leader who understood that he was called to serve. He was also training the other prophets to become servant leaders who would provide quality leadership later in their primary areas of calling. He demonstrated to them that a leader should always be available whenever he is needed and not at his own personal convenience.
What kind of leadership do you provide in the place God has placed you?
Like Elisha, dear Lord Jesus Christ, help me to consider those you called me to serve above myself all time, in your name, Amen.
