ECWA FOOD FOR THE DAY - Saturday 28th August 2021

TOPIC: THE KING RECRUITS HARVESTERS (II) TEXT: MATTHEW 10: 5 - 15

While sending out the twelve into the field, Jesus gave them some guidelines as ministerial principles and ethics. They were strictly warned to only go to Jewish communities and not to the Gentiles or Samaritans. That did not mean that Christ was being a tribal jingoist. It was God's plan, to begin with the Jews who would serve as the foundation for the gospel. It is always good to start building on a solid foundation than start from the top down. Therefore, Christ had a plan for the entire world, starting from Israel, the household of God.

However, other services such as healing the sick, cleansing lepers, raising the dead, and casting out demons (vs. 8) should also be carried out. Although these were not their major assignment, these can impact positively on the communities in which they would be ministering. We should not stop at salvation message alone; we should also provide other services within and outside the Church. Our ministry should be holistic in nature.

QUESTION

What steps have you taken to increase labourers in the Lord's vineyard?

PRAYER

Oh Lord, grant me the wisdom to recruit more disciples for the ministry, in Jesus name, Amen.
