TOPIC: JESUS IS MESSIAH, EVEN IN DEATH
TEXT: JOHN 19: 31 – 42
Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus were leaders among the religious leaders of Jesus’ day and secretly believed in Jesus as the King and Messiah. However, they were afraid of exposing themselves as Jesus’ disciples in public. In John 3 Nicodemus visited Jesus in the night to inquire about the path to eternal life. His inquiry brought out the fundamental teachings and principles about eternal life. Therefore, it was not surprising that, when Jesus died on Friday, these two disciples dared the public and their religious leaders by openly identifying with Jesus.
Even in death, these great leaders realized and believed Jesus is the Messiah and the true King of the Jews. You have another opportunity to witness the celebration of the death of Jesus so that you may believe and have eternal life. Enjoy the privilege.
Can you be courageous enough to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and accept Him as your Saviour today?
As we commemorate Your death and resurrection this weekend, dear Jesus Christ, may many come to faith in You, Amen.
