TOPIC: THE DISCIPLE'S PRIMARY DUTY TO OTHERS

TEXT: JOHN 1:35-42

During the presentation of Jesus yesterday as the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the whole world, there were some among those listening to John the Baptist who understood clearly what John meant. They left him and followed Jesus (vs. 37, 38). They were persuaded to know that truly Jesus was the Messiah they had been waiting for. Without wasting time, two of John the Baptist's disciples got closer to Jesus and one asked, “Rabbi Where are you living?” Immediately Jesus saw his eagerness to know more about Him, He invited him saying, “Come and see.” That first disciple was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother who immediately ran home and declared to Peter, “We have found the Messiah, which is Christ,” (vs. 41). By this act of Andrew, true disciples are charged to remember their Jerusalem, members of their household. Andrew must have been a keen listener to the messages of John the Baptist, so he did not allow his mind to ramble elsewhere as many do today. He was focused and received the message meant for him.

QUESTION

How much of Jesus do you share and do you see it as your primary duty to others?

PRAYER

Grant me, O Lord, the spirit of Andrew to passionately share Jesus with others so as to win them to Christ, Amen.
