ECWA FOOD FOR THE DAY - Saturday 5th February, 2022

Deception is defined as the act of causing someone to accept as true or valid what is false or invalid. The world has suffered severely from deception, ranging from significant issues such as false teachers predicting precise dates for the return of Christ to fake news perpetrated over social media.

Writing about the events of the last days, Matthew predicts a great time of distress that will be characterized by lies intended to deceive God's elect. There will be false christs and false prophets who will perform great signs and miracles.

Matthew warns God's elect, "... do not believe it" (vs. 26). The challenge that comes with this admonition is the fact that fake news tends to be more appealing than genuine news and people are attracted to miracles.

Paul in 2 Timothy 4:3 speaks of a time when people will not put up with sound teaching but will gather around them teachers who will tell them what their itching ears want to hear. Watch out! The days of deception are here.

Critique every piece of information like the Bereans did in Acts 17: 11. Pray for the spirit of discernment. Christ is coming with the clouds soon, but false christs are already here. Don't believe them.

QUESTION Who are you listening to, Christ or christs?

PRAYER Jesus, please help me to be vigilant in these last days, Amen.
