ECWA FOOD FOR THE DAY - Saturday 6th February, 2021

TEXT: JOHN 4: 1-29

In today's reading, we see Jesus and His disciples making8 a detour into the region to Samaria, where no devout Jew ever went. He encounters a woman who has spiritual problems that had attracted social problems. Her life with men has been so bad that she

has had five husbands and was living with a sixth who was not her husband. This crisis in her life has forced her to go to fetch water in the afternoon, not the usual time for women to do that, so as to avoid meeting people. Upon meeting Jesus she tries to use religious and

social excuses to cover her unfortunate situation: "You are a jew and I am a Samaritan woman (vs. 9). Are you greater than our father Jacob?" (vs. 12). "You Jews claim that the

place where we must worship is in Jerusalem" (vs. 20). All of these arguments fail to cover

the crisis of Christlessness in her life. But when she finally opens up to Christ, she receives an instant transformation that turns her into a powerful witness- she leaves her jar of water, runs back to the town and invites people to come to Jesus! The remedy to your crisis is

not religion or social activism. No, it is Christ!

Christ is the solution to the crisis in your life. Open up to Him now!

What are you using to coverup the crisis in your life?

Open me up, dear Jesus, for l am tired of covering up the crisis in my life, Amen.
