ECWA FOOD FOR THE DAY - Sunday 14th March, 2021


TEXT: 1 KINGS 22:1-12

Democracy is founded on the philosophy that leadership should be based on the wishes of the majority. This is not always true as experience has Since shown that most times, the best candidate may not be the choice of the majority. Today's passage showed kings Ahab of Israel and Jehoshaphat of Judah in need of a godly counsel that would allow them attack and retake Ramoth Gilead from the King of Aram. Four hundred prophets assured Ahab that the Lord will give Ramoth Gilead into his hands. These prophets remind us of the 850 prophets of Baal who contested with Elijah on Mount Carmel. They were more of praise singers concerned with what they can get from the king rather than seeking the right answers from the Lord. Note that King Jehoshaphat was not convinced that four hundred prophets could speak with the same voice without a single dissenting view. So, he requested for another prophet. Ahab's response showed that he deliberately did not want to

hear the truth. When you prefer praise singers to the voice of truth, you are doomed.
