ECWA FOOD FOR THE DAY - Sunday 14th November 2021

TOPIC: BROKEN COVENANT TEXT: JEREMIAH 11: 1 - 13 A covenant is an agreement between two or more persons. It could be in form of a promise, incidental to a deed or contract which could be either expressed or implied. The children of Israel broke this covenant. Verse 2 points out that covenants have terms, and the consequences of breaking a covenant are stated in vs. 3. When someone breaks a relationship with God, they will be cursed for not obeying God’s instructions (Deuteronomy 27:15-26). Verse 4 shows the terrible suffering of the Israelites in Egypt and how God delivered them. God pointed out to the children of Israel the importance of obeying His instructions but they hardened their hearts and refused to obey and rather obliged for curses (vs. 8 & Exodus 26:14). Israel returned to pagan worship (vs. 9-10), thereby breaking the covenant that bound them to the Lord and punishment came as a result (vs. 11).

QUESTION
