TOPIC: THE JUST KING IS THE JUDGE TEXT: MATTHEW 7: 1 - 6

Some people are naturally die-hard critics who hardly see anything good in anybody except themselves. Many of such people, especially among the religious leaders, abound during the days of Christ. There were constant ideological and theological arguments between Christ and the Jewish religious leaders (the Chief Scribes and the Pharisees). Most of them condemned Christ's ministry (good service to the society), teachings and associating with sinners. They considered themselves pure and saw others as sinners, especially tax collectors, prostitutes and Sabbath-breakers. Yet they failed to see their failures or sins which they committed in secret (Matthew 23:25-27). Christ did not condemn rebuking or counselling a fallen brother to bring him back to the Lord. Some condemn and gossip about fallen brothers instead of praying and visiting them to bring them back to the Lord. On the other hand, some fallen brothers and sisters hate anyone who tries to help them out of their sins. They always condemn and consider any move to help them out of their sin as judgment. Believers should not be judgmental in approaching the fallen ones. Rather, they should be caring. Even if it leads to discipline, it should be done with love and a gentle spirit so as to bring our brother or sister back to the loving embrace of Christ. Remember, discipline is not punishment! Remember, God is our judge and not man.

QUESTION

Do you always judge other believers?

PRAYER

Oh Lord, help me to guide and not to judge others, in Jesus name, Amen.
