ECWA FOOD FOR THE DAY - Sunday 27th February, 2022

TOPIC: THE CROWN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS TEXT: 2 TIMOTHY 4:8 The last Crown in our discussion is rightly the last because the Crown of Righteousness is meant for those who long for the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. It appears ironical that a Crown will be awarded for longing for the return of Christ. The fact is that not everyone longs for and anticipates the return of Christ. Not many are ready to face Him. Not many want to stop "enjoying" the things of the world. Not many are sure that heaven is real or that hell is real. Not many know what will happen or what to expect. So, they are not excited about His return. The Apostle Paul in our reading for today speaks with certainty that there is in store for him a Crown of righteousness, which the Lord will award to him. This statement agrees with faith, which is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see (Heb. 11:1). Today is Sunday and perhaps you will be going to church. What meaning do you attach to going to church if you are not anticipating the return of the Lord Jesus Christ? If going to church only becomes a routine and tradition, what value does it add to you? What good is there in going to school for a student, if there is no Day of graduation? The Lord Jesus Christ is coming with the Crown of Righteousness for those who are anticipating. It may be today!

QUESTION What else are you anticipating if not the return of Jesus Christ? PRAYER You are coming back. Help me to put my house in order, dear Lord, Amen.
