TEXT: RUTH 3:1-18

The story of Ruth in chapter one began with sad news after marriage. It is clear that her husband died suddenly after their marriage without a child (Ruth 1:11-17). But she insisted on following her mother-in-law who had no hope of getting another husband for her. She followed her mother-in-law to share in her suffering.

In chapter three, her mother-in-law began to see prospects for Ruth's new marriage in Israel. Ruth's journey to Israel was driven by faith (Heb. 11:1). However, God worked things out for her through her mother-in-law and Boaz.

It is quite interesting that Naomi also acted in a godly manner unlike some mothers' in-laws and some ungodly relations who do not support the re-marriage of their daughters-in-law. Boaz also appreciated and honored her. Indeed, he described her as a “virtuous woman” (Ruth 3:11). Boaz did not rush but followed the right procedures and the acceptable custom to marry Ruth.

We need to trust God even when our future seems to be uncertain. We should live and be driven by faith and not by sight (2Cor. 5:7). Many believers have missed a lot of blessings because they seek to see before believing or acting. We should continue our journey of faith in every circumstance until we reach the point where God has stored up blessings. Surely, we will soon meet our Lord Jesus Christ at the end of our earthly pilgrimage.

Are you driven by faith or by sight?

Oh Lord, lead me to be driven by faith and not by sight, in Jesus name, Amen!
