TOPIC: CHRIST'S HUMILIATION WAS HIS GLORIFICATION
TEXT: JOHN 13:31-38
The Lord Jesus began to speak to the disciples about His impending death. For man, crucifixion on the cross was a great humiliation. But for the Lord, it was the climax of glorifying God. In any case, even when it appears humiliating, our foremost prayer should be, "Lord, glorify Yourself." The disciples would later experience humiliating deaths in various forms, except John the beloved. But those martyrs glorified the Lord Jesus and eventually joined Him in heaven where they are alive and reigning forever. During the most trying times, the best way to be a witness for Christ is to love your fellow brethren and everyone. 1Corinthians 13 gives us a practical definition of love. Peter insisted that he would follow Jesus wherever He was going but He warned that he would betray Him three times before the cock crew. We should never boast about our stand (1 Corinthians 10:12); the strongest in Christ should continuously seek for the fullness of the grace of God to stand for His glory in all situations, realizing that, except for God's grace, we would all fall.
Are you being humiliated for being a follower of Christ Jesus?
Oh God, help me to show love in all situations so that Your name will be glorified in my life, in Jesus name, Amen.
