TOPIC: THE GREAT DELIVERER
TEXT: JOHN 6:16-24
Today, the disciples set sail to cross the Lake to Capernaum in the night to escape the temptation of making Jesus King by force. He withdrew to a mountain by Himself. They had not gone far when a strong wind started blowing which caused fear and worry of impending death, (vs.18, 19). But suddenly, Jesus appeared on the water and they were terrified when they saw Him walking on the sea. This shows that even when a man is walking under Christ's instruction, the storms of life can come. But note that because He is aware of it, He will appear at the right time as He did in our passage today. In their state of fear, Jesus appeared and spoke the words of courage by announcing His arrival to deliver them from death: “It is I; don't be afraid”, He said. The results of receiving Christ were twofold: deliverance from fear and the calming of the storm. Jesus gives us the strength to row through all the storms of life and satisfy all of man's sincere hunger. Men are always looking for quick and temporary solutions to life's challenges but Jesus gives eternal solutions.
Are you seeking for temporary solutions to your problems or eternal solutions?
Lord, may my longing soul find satisfaction for all my needs in You today and always, Amen.
