TOPIC: GOD ACCUSES HIS PEOPLE OF UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES

TEXT: MICAH 6:9-16

Because of the dichotomies Christians have created between the secular and the sacred, the spiritual and the physical, many Christians seem to believe that God is not interested in how we run our businesses. Our reading today reminds us that God is interested in everything we do, business inclusive.

The Lord God will not turn a blind eye to unscrupulous business practices, ill-gotten treasures, use of dishonest measurements in business, false or inflated contracts, false receipts, etc. God says that He is going to punish perpetrators with diseases and pillaging of crops.

The Bible says, “….You will eat but not be satisfied, your stomach will still be empty, you will store up but save nothing because what you saved I will give to the sword, you will plant but not harvest, you will press olive oil but not use the olive….” Unethical business practices are costly in the long run because they have a terrible boomerang effect.

QUESTION

In doing business, do you have integrity?
