ECWA FOOD FOR THE DAY - Thursday 7th January, 2021

TEXT: JOHN 12:20-26

The Greeks sought to meet the Lord Jesus which further confirmed to Him that His death on the cross was near. He saw the cross as a means of His glorification, not humiliation, because of the ultimate result - the salvation of all men. Therefore, the Lord said that a grain of wheat must die before it can produce seeds. In His case, it was physical death on the cross of Calvary for our sins. For us, it is death to self, sinful desires and, in certain cases, physical death. God's children are like seeds. They are small and insignificant, but they have life in them, God's life. However, that life can never be fulfilled unless we yield ourselves to God and permit Him to "plant us." We must die to self so that we may live unto God (Rom 6:1-14; Gal. 2:20). The only way to have a fruitful life is to follow Jesus Christ in death, burial and resurrection.

Are you dead to self?

Oh God, let me always be dead to self and alive to Christ, in Jesus name, Amen.
