TOPIC: GOD IS COMPASSIONATE
TEXT: ISAIAH 14: 1 – 11
Compassion is a feeling of sympathy towards people who are suffering and a desire to help them. This defines the God we serve. You and I are people of His choice, like the Israelites. The Lord has promised not only to settle the Israelites in the land to come, but aliens like us will join them and be united with those who put their confidence in the Lord. The Israelites will not only triumph over their enemies, they will also have dominion over their oppressors. This statement may not sound realistic to us compared to the reality on ground. Still, verse 3 assures us that it is the Lord that will make it work. There is an assurance that He will bring the oppressors to an end and break the rod of the wicked. He will also bring peace to a restless country like Nigeria (vs 5-7). Those belonging to the Lord in the grave are anxious for His return, vs 9.
In what aspect of your life is God manifesting His compassion towards you today?
Father, I cannot quantify the compassion You have for me. I pray that You will continue without giving up on me, Amen.
