TOPIC: PAYING ATTENTION TO GOD'S WORD TEXT: MATTHEW 13: 1 - 9 Most of Jesus' teachings about the kingdom of God were given in parables. In fact, it is said that 3/4 of His teachings on the kingdom were in the form of stories. A parable is simply an earth story with a heavenly meaning. As recorded by Matthew, Jesus performed this first miracle to many people by the lakeside. He told them about a farmer who planted his seeds which fell on four different soils. Some fell on the path, others on rocky places, some amongst thorns and others on good soil. The seeds which fell on suitable soil were good. But birds ate those that fell on the wayside. The thorns choked those plants that grew up among them. It must be noted that this is one of the two parables that Jesus interpreted Himself (vs. 18-23).
We must be careful not to allow the devil divert our attention from the Word of God, which is the seed planted in us.
What are the things that take away your attention from the Word of God? PRAYER
Dear Lord, although I live in the world, please help me overcome its attractions which seek to distract me from Your word, in Jesus name, Amen.
