TOPIC: GOD OF JUSTICE AND MERCY
TEXT: ISAIAH 59:1-9
Like David in the passage we just read, there are times when our enemies look strong and overwhelming and we don't know how to get any human help. At such times, we need to remember that a sure deliverer and a mighty fortress is our God and turn to Him for deliverance. It is more frustrating and scary when we examine ourselves and find out that we did not commit any offence against them. David went to God, laid his complaints and frustrations before Him in prayer and asked for deliverance. As strong as David was in battle a warrior of no mean repute, the champion over Goliath and killer of lion and leopard, he recognised that the arm of flesh would fail him. So he appealed to God for justice and mercy. When mercy shows up for a man, miracle follows.
Mercy will locate you in times of danger. As the year runs out, take stock of your life. When God laughs at our enemies, it means deliverance for us. And, as David did by celebrating God's strength, we need to ascribe praise and honour to Him through our rededication unto Him.
What do we need from God in view of what is going on today, justice or mercy?
Dear Lord Jesus, You have carried us thus far in this year only by Your mercy. Please, in Your mercy let us land safely into the year ahead victoriously, Amen.
