TOPIC: THE POWER OF PRAYERS TEXT: MATTHEW 14 : 22 - 36 M. E. Andross said this about prayer: "There is no other activity in life so important as that of prayer. Every other activity depends upon prayer for its best efficiency." Being God, Jesus understood the power behind prayer. It was therefore not surprising that when He finished the powerful ministry of feeding the five thousand, He proceeded to a quiet place for solitude (vs. 23). While He was on His knees, the disciples struggled with the waves of the sea in their effort to reach the other side of the town. Because the fourth watch of the night was from 3:00-6:30 in the morning, it was not surprising that they were afraid to the point of assuming Jesus to be a ghost. So He had to engage them to douse their fears. Peter summoned courage and acted as the Master when he knew it was Jesus. And as long as he focused his attention on Jesus, he was able to effortlessly walk towards Him (vs. 29). Despite all your troubles, fix your gaze on Jesus the way Peter did and everything will turn out well. No matter the immensity of your engagements today, remember that the first step towards accomplishing them is by making out quality time to pray.
QUESTION What is your driving force today? PRAYER Dear Father, forgive me for being unserious about my prayer life unlike the way You desire and teach me how to pray, in Jesus name, Amen.
