TOPIC: THE LORD'S CASE AGAINST HIS PEOPLE

TEXT: MICAH 6:1-8

God instituted a case against His People; the mountains were summoned as witnesses for the Lord because the mountains were the symbolic eyewitnesses of God's faithfulness to His people without reciprocation from them. Israel did not reciprocate God's unfailing love, supported by two exhibitions of His love through His saving acts at the beginning and end of Israel's formation as a nation.

The Lord's complaint was aimed at bringing Israel to its senses and to remember how He saved them repeatedly. God further complained about being bribed with empty sacrifices to gain His favour. Prophet Micah sarcastically condemned their bribes.

Sacrifices by themselves can never establish a proper relationship with God. Proper relationship with God ends in heartfelt obedience to God's law.

QUESTION

If God institutes a case against us, can we plead not guilty?

PRAYER

We are sorry, Lord, for bribing you with church activities without holy living and spiritual fruitfulness; Amen.
