TOPIC: KILLING IN THE NAME OF GOD
TEXT: JOHN 16:1-11
Jesus followed His teaching on the persecution of the disciples with a serious prophetic pronouncement. He warned of a time in future when so-called religious people would claim to be killing Jesus' followers on behalf of God as a religious duty. It is interesting to note that we do not only see this in other lands, countries here in the West African sub-region are actually going through these horrific experiences. Churches and houses with property belonging to Christians are burned and destroyed at will.
Pastors and members across different denominations are subjected to untold hardships and cold-blooded murder simply because they are Christians. In Nigeria, for instance, we have had the gruesome murders of church leaders videotaped and aired to the entire world. Still holding Leah Sharibu and many other Christian girls in captivity is as terrible as having already killed them. Nevertheless, the Holy Spirit who is our comforter will never abandon us. He will convict these terrorists for their sins and the future judgment that awaits them in eternity.
Do you think that those who kill in the name of God will escape the future Judgment of God?
Oh, dear Lord Jesus, we surrender our lives to You and chose to stand strong in spite of the terrorists killing Your children. Help us never to be discouraged, in Jesus name, Amen.
