FINDING GOD

Rom 3.11 tells us that no one seeks for or finds God.

No one understands the deep spiritual meaning of things.

He was never lost.

But thank God for the work of the Holy Spirit that reveals all truth to us.

The act of finding presupposes literally that something is lost.

We were lost but found by God. His grace found you and me.

We in turn are urged to seek him and find Him so that we can relate with him and he with us.

The act of finding also presupposes that the thing being looked for or being sought after is of great value. No one will embark on a mission of finding a worthless thing. It is like going for a quest for something very precious

The Bible tells us that he who finds a wife has found a good thing and obtains favour from God.

It also asks a question who can find a good wife?

That she is more precious than rubies etc.

Think of the value the father of the prodigal son placed on his lost son who was later found. This is how the father saw it. "My son was lost and now is found" A banquet was held to receive him.

The Bible tells us also that Heaven rejoices over finding one lost sinner from the parable of the lost sheep.

Seeking for things of the kingdom is therefore a very serious business.

The act of finding involves or requires seeking." Seek and you will find". Dictionary meaning of finding is to discover by seeking, by experiment, by study. See 2Tim 2.15-18

The act of finding demands a lot from the person seeking to find.Diligence, hard work, commitment, focus.

BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVES OF FINDING GOD.

Note that the act of finding is a process. We keep seeking, finding, searching for God as long as we remain alive. It is a continuous search until our work is over on this side of eternity.

Acts 17:26-27 "and he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined alloted peeiods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, that they should seek God and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him"

Yet God is actually not far from us but sin creates a gulf between us.

We are placed where we are by God to fulfil His sovereign purpose in the hope that we seek after him.- his holiness, his beauty, his character- his humility.

Proverbs 8: 17 "I love those who love me and those who seek me diligently find me."

Those who love God will seek Him and for those who earnestly seek Him, he will be found.

Deuteronomy 4:29 "but from there you will seek the Lord your God

If you seek the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul."

Jeremiah 29:13 reiterates what is said in Deuteronomy. "you will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. This means if I don't seek him with all my heart, He will not be found, even though He is near.

Hebrews 11:6 "and without faith, it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who diligently seek Him .

John 4: 23. "But the hour is coming and is now here, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking(finding, looking for) such people to worship him". That is the purpose of his coming down to earth in the form of Man. To seek the lost and be found of him. Are you one of such? Am I one of such? Have I been found or I am still lost? And am I or are you in turn seeking to find him and know him deeper.?

This is a wake-up call to all of us.

Job 11:7. "Can you find out the deep things of God? Can you find out the limit of the Almighty?"

No. But seek His counsel first, and He will reveal His mind to you concerning everything.
